A Robotic Arm That Speaks Sign Language Is Bringing Classrooms to Deaf Kids

Norah Kimathi, 22, co-founded ZeroBionic to build $350 robotic hands that translate a teacher's speech into sign language in real time. The hands are now in 78 Kenyan schools, and at one Nairobi school for the deaf, teachers are using them to build a database of technical signs that expands the language itself.
