A New Catalyst Gave Rechargeable Zinc-Air Batteries 300 Hours of Runtime
Chemists at TU Darmstadt built a nickel-iron-carbon catalyst that let rechargeable zinc-air batteries survive 500 charge cycles. Since zinc-air can theoretically store five times the energy of lithium-ion, the advance revives a chemistry long stuck as single-use.
