LSU and Ailectric's DeepFire system predicts where wildfires are likely to start up to 35 days out, hitting 90% accuracy four to seven days ahead, and it beat the New South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to detections during XPRIZE field tests in Australia. The recognition came with a $100,000 prize as the team licenses the tool for fire departments.
