A $10 Chip Could Put Lab-Grade Health Testing on Your Wrist
University of Cambridge researchers built a convolutional spectrometer the size of a few centimetres that costs about $10 and measures health markers including glucose, alcohol and lactate without needles, with readings in under a second. Published in Nature Photonics, it identified test materials with 100 percent accuracy and matched or beat benchtop instruments, though the team says further clinical validation is needed before routine glucose use.
