Two Brothers Built a 100 Pound Braille Printer and Won a World Robotics Prize
Brothers Tom and Felix Hunt built BrailleGo!, a portable Braille printer that produces short-run documents such as children's books and museum guides for around 100 pounds, a fraction of the cost of commercial embossers. Their design won Best Start-Up Idea at the 2026 World Robot Olympiad European Open Championship, and they plan to release the code and design files open source so anyone can build one.

Sophie the AI Mechanic Promises Noon, Then Wednesday, Then Mike Says Tuesday
A mechanic shop's new AI phone assistant, Sophie, told journalist Hugh Riminton his car would be ready at noon the next day. He turned up on Saturday to a locked gate, and Sophie cheerfully moved pickup to Wednesday. A human mechanic named Mike gave the real answer, Tuesday, and advised him not to listen to Sophie, just to say 'put me through to Mike.'
