Discarded Fishing Nets Could Pave Roads Without Shedding More Plastic
Researchers in Hawaii are testing asphalt made with recycled polyethylene from marine debris, including discarded fishing gear, and early results show promising resistance to rutting with no clear increase in polymer shedding compared with conventional roads. Researchers in Texas are running similar trials on a roughly one-mile road section near Dallas.
