An AI Model Could Tailor Radiation for Kids With Brain Tumors

A Dana-Farber team built MANTIS, an AI model trained on DNA-methylation data from 2,786 children with brain tumors, published in Nature Genetics. It matched tumor subtypes with concordance up to 0.80 and suggests about 60% of average-risk medulloblastoma patients could receive lower-dose radiation without a significant survival disadvantage, sparing children some of the harshest side effects.
