Abbott Won FDA Approval for the First US Device That Plugs Leaks Around Replacement Heart Valves

Abbott's Amplatzer Paraclose is the first device approved in the US to plug leaks around surgical heart valves through a catheter in the leg, giving patients an alternative to repeat open-heart surgery. Approval was backed by a 200-patient study showing it works as a minimally invasive option.
