A Smartphone Patch Reads Heart Health With No Electronics at All

NTNU researchers built a silicone patch with no electronics that measures pulse and blood vessel stiffness using a nanoscale pattern that changes colour as skin moves. Read by an ordinary smartphone camera, it could bring heart checks to remote places without ECG machines, and it works independently of skin tone, unlike optical smartwatch sensors.
