A Portable Robot Scanned Livers on Its Own, No Sonographer Required

A lightweight robot that straps to a patient's abdomen scanned livers on its own, guided by an AI agent trained on human sonographers, and produced clinically interpretable images in tests with 102 healthy participants and 17 patients. The team also used it for screening in a high-altitude, low-resource setting on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, pointing toward liver screening where trained sonographers are scarce.
