A 3.75 MWh lithium-ion battery system installed inside Peace Bridge Place, a 105-unit affordable housing building in Buffalo, can power the complex for several days during outages and ease strain on the grid at peak times. Viridi spent six years and about $10 million developing a fireproof containment design that passed a test so strict that a cheesecloth draped over the container did not char when a cell was forced to fail.
